Georg-Sebastian Holzer, what can I say? Your article “Eritrea Recalibrates Somalia Policy” is a joke!! First of all, your analysis is based on a report full of assumptions that Eritrea is providing arms to Somalia insurgents?
If you read the report, you can’t find any evidence to support the allegation against Eritrea, except all allegations are based on opinions, hear-say stories and assumptions.
If you read the report, you can’t find any evidence to support the allegation against Eritrea, except all allegations are based on opinions, hear-say stories and assumptions.
If you are truly a political analyst who wants to enlighten people, you should begin with analyzing, why’ the monitoring group couldn’t bring a single proof that supports their allegations? Further more you are well aware of the presence of US and French military in Djibouti, and the naval forces of various European counties in the Gulf of Aden. A sensible person would ask how in the heavens Eritrea could deliver those weapons without being detected by the hi-tech radar systems equipments of these fleets and French and US military bases in Djibouti. The allegation have being going on for more than four years, and they couldn’t catch a single Eritrean boat with weapons on its way to Somalia.
In 22 May 2008 Reuters reported that the South African Ambassador to the United Nations Dumisani Kumalo, chairman of the U.N. Security Council's Somalia sanctions committee in his report to the UNSC said,
“Eighty percent of ammunition available at the Somali arms markets was supplied by TFG and Ethiopian troops”
Furthermore Kumalo said
“The monitoring committee received details of some 25 military flights by Ethiopia into Somalia and knew that Ethiopian troops had brought military equipment into the country to arm "friendly clans,"
What happen to this report? Did the UNSC forget this report when they impose sanctions against Eritrea?
Have you for a second thought that these allegations might be fabricated? Or it’s hard for you to imagine the “democracies” of the world would come up with such shameless false accusations. Do I have to remind you the Mass Destruction Weapons of Iraq? I think you should learn the proverb about getting fooled twice from George W Bush.
Word of advice, get your fact straight before stapling up them foe analysis. For your information, people are getting more conscious and it is getting harder to drag the people behind curtain.

Biniam Tareke

You have good points. The US seem to target Eritrea. Its sad to see some political analysts have fallen for the same kindes of lies they used on Iraq.
